Buying a mattress in Bali is harder than it should be. There is no equivalent of a dedicated bed retailer on every arterial road, prices for apparently identical products vary by a factor of three, and a lot of what is sold as latex is not.
This is a map of the options — what each route costs you, what it gets you, and where you can actually lie on something before committing.
Buy from a local maker you can visit, or from a brand with a physical showroom and a written warranty. Those two routes solve the problems the other two do not: you can test the product, and there is someone on the island to call if the core sags in year three.
Importing is rarely worth it once shipping and duty are counted. Second-hand is a poor idea in this climate for reasons that have nothing to do with price.

People move away from Bali constantly and sell good furniture cheaply, which makes marketplace listings tempting. Mattresses are the one category to avoid. A used core in a humid climate has spent years absorbing moisture, you cannot see how much support it has lost, and there is no way to know what lived in it. Buy the sofa; skip the bed.

Directions and a map for all six are on our showrooms page. Calling ahead is worth it — these are furniture businesses with their own opening hours, and stock on the floor varies by location.
The last one separates a local brand from an imported one more sharply than price does. An international warranty administered from another country is, in practice, difficult to claim on from Bali.

Most people sit on the edge of a showroom mattress, press it with a hand, and decide. That tells you almost nothing about how it will hold your spine for eight hours.
Lie down in the position you actually sleep in — on your side, if you are a side sleeper — and stay there long enough to stop noticing the shop. Ten minutes is the usual advice and it is not arbitrary; it is roughly how long it takes for the surface to stop feeling novel and start feeling like a bed.

Buying direct is usually cheaper, because there is no floor space to pay for. The trade-off is that you are choosing firmness from a description rather than from experience.
That is survivable if two conditions hold: a genuine trial period with a clear return process, and a firmness you can change afterwards without replacing the whole mattress. Without at least one of those, ordering blind is a gamble.

Almost never. Freight on an item that size, import duty, and the risk of a warranty that is not serviceable in Indonesia usually outweigh any saving on the sticker price — and you will not have tested it.
It is the one piece of used furniture worth avoiding here. A used core has absorbed years of humidity, its remaining support cannot be assessed by looking at it, and there is no warranty. The saving is real; so is the reason it is cheap.
At least ten minutes, lying in your normal sleeping position. Sitting on the edge and pressing with a hand tells you about the top comfort layer and nothing about the support underneath it.
Most arrange delivery, but terms vary by store and by where you are on the island. Confirm who carries it inside, whether stairs are included, and whether the old mattress is taken away, before you pay.
